  31. When speaking about performance advantages for single-threaded apps
  32. running under NT on a multi-CPU machine, I think it's important to
  33. remember that kernel and service induced CPU load is not negligible in
  34. most NT installations.  The NT kernel itself is multi-threaded and typical
  35. NT installations run multiple services.  I believe that being able to
  36. distribute kernel and service load among 2 or more processors is a
  37. significant performance advantage over the single processor machine.  One
  38. instance of ScreamerNet on our dual P90 is about 10% faster than one
  39. instance of ScreamerNet on the same machine with the single processor HAL
  40. running and one processor installed.  The more you load up the OS with 
  41. things to do, the bigger the difference becomes.
